00h13 UTC; FRIDAY, 4 MAY 2012: First, readers, Appy Polly Loggies are in order for the delay in getting this posted; it seems that human error on the part of Yola rendered their blogging tool inoperable for a time yesterday, preventing this post from going live. He regrets any inconvenience suffered thereby in the interim.

In any case, with apologies to the Belgian painter Magritte (the inspiration for the titling being the lead-off image), onward:

=============

So much for the Unholy Trinity of the GOP/"Tea Party"/Christian Right insisting as an article of faith electorally that the poor and vulnerable are essentially "on their own" when it comes to relief, as if insisting that they need to "turn more to themselves and ther own kind" rather than the State, replete with all manner of absurd and crass platitudes blaming themselves for their own problems as drove them thus.

But what they're not telling you is that they're expecting the Lower Classes to save themselves according to the doctrine encapsulated in the Afrikaans expression 'n Volk red homself ("a people rescues itself"), drawing solely upon its own resources and tools without any sort of outside interference if they desire to be independent and self-sufficient within the parameters of ekonomesie vryheid met Amerikaanse eienskappe such specimens of Zealotry and True Belief insist is interconnected to AmeriKKKan National and Sovereign Identity as a Peculiar Among the Nations (yet lack any documentation to support this).

Provided, of course, such self-help, to take the form of a "spontaneous and mighty" call to Reddingsdaad ("rescue action") "born out of the Volk to serve the Volk" (as was the slogan for South African life insurer Sanlam in the 1920's and 1930's), was compatible with said ekonomesie vryheid, &c.--more specifically, a new, "people-centred" form thereof known as Volkskapitalisme ("people's capitalism"), one in which the traditional wealth creation angle was expected to be subordinate to the socioeconomic empowerment of the Volk through jobs creation and on-the-job training which, in its turn, was expected to create purchasing power and "productive capital" which can be leveraged as necessary to perpetuate the cycle.

The whole to be accomplished by appealing to the Volkseenheid ("organic unity of the people"), rather than State relief or charity (to be forever seen as "enslavement"), through a campaign of Helpmekaar ("helping each other") unto a central fund that would achieve the desired result--which, thanks to the Eerste Ekonomesie Volkskongres ("First People's Economic Congress") at Bloemfontein in October 1939, itself the end result of the original Reddingsdaad collection taken up as part of Die Tweede Trek across South Africa in 1938 under auspices of the hyper-Freemasonic Afrikaner Broederbond, saw Volkskapitalisme as the Last Hope for the Afrikaner to Save Himself, to be assisted through the Federale Volksbeleggings investment fund and the Reddingsdaadbond ("Rescue Pact League") organisation to promote Afrikaner national, economic and cultural identity and cohesion.

The whole not so much designed to help the people who needed it as to sow the seeds of the apartheid regime and its agenda of gross racial and socioeconomic division and disparity, excused as God's Will and Plan Upon South Africa Under Direction of the Afrikaner.

Is this, reader, any way to help the AmeriKKKan poor to help themselves, especially when ekonomesie vryheid is expected to serve as euphemism for capitalism "to make the concept more acceptable among the masses," or so Frank Luntz explained in pushing the meme?

=============

On the other hand, readers, if conservatives were as adamant and insistent as they are about expecting the Lower Classes to empower themselves all the more by working amongst themselves, might I suggest encouraging the study and embrace of cooperative doctrines and principles as but one step towards just such a noble goal and concept, never mind conservative prolefeeders generally likely to scream "Creeping Communism!!" in that obnoxiously idiotic, juvenile even, singsong of The Red Guy on Cow and Chicken and I Am Weasel some years back on Cartoon Network.

Especially taking such viable forms as:
  • friendly societies providing a broad spectrum of savings, insurance, housing, jobs training and travel opportunities at reasonable cost (which may be of benefit in pushing the meme of forcing greater onus for retirement savings onto the working-classes);
  • retailers as could emphasise a practical and utilitarian selection of products in their offerings;
  • housing soceties (even cooperative vacation resorts and cabin colonies); and
  • mutual savings banks, building societies and savings and credit unions.
The whole having a proven track record of empowering the people on multiple fronts, all the while empowering the membership and consumers in their service to the community. The which is (and ought be) of particular interest this year, as 2012 has been designated by the United Nations as the International Year of Cooperatives (slogan: "Cooperative Enterprises Build a Better World").

Or must it forever be that "AmeriKKKan heritage, experience and conditions" require, dictate even, that any measures towards empowerment of the poor through self-help must be based entirely and exclusively upon the disciplines of ekonomesie vryheid, &c., reinforced by exercises in Class Consciousness with Scientologist characteristics as only risk causing psychoemotional harm and damage?
