18h UTC; MONDAY, 6 FEBRUARY 2012: New lows for condoning misogyny on the RepubliKKKan campaign trail, courtesy of GOP Presidential wannabe Ron Paul--this time, suggesting that women who went through an "honest rape" (yes, Rep. Paul used that term) are the only victims of rape deserving abortion.

This from the same Ron Paul who's gone on record suggesting that women don't deserve to be protected from sexual violence by law, contending that they probably deserve it in the first place.

Wha-a?

The so-called "People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals" and Sea World finally get their day in court today in answer to the former's lawsuit contending that Sea World is violating the 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution (as bans slavery or "involuntary servitude") vis-a-vis its killer-whale act by forcing the five performing orcas into peonage, which Sea World management contends should be thrown out as being little better than a "publicity stunt" for PETA.

But then again, certain cultural conservatives would just love to use the so-called "music shows" down in the 65616, concentrated for the most part along 76 Country Boulevard and Shepherd of the Hills Expressway, as a more "realistically American" acid test for establishing an Amerikanischer Leikultur.

If conservative prolefeed insists that energy-conservation and environmental initiatives will somehow "lead to Socialism" (cf. the old joke about Baptists fearing pretty much anything and everything entertaining out of fear that such "might lead to dancing"), are we to assume that the defence of ekonomesie vryheid met Amerikaanse eienskappe "gebore ons die Volk, die Volk te doen" requires the maintenance of a complacent status quo of waste, mismanagement, general inefficiency, fraud, corruption and general cartel behaviour which can officially be excused as "Wise Use"?

=============

Meanwhile, how are we to know that the GOP socioeconomic agenda for Indecision 2012, in its Luscious Glory of the defence of ekonomesie vryheid, &c., being essential to Reclaiming Prosperity for All, for the Benefit of All, isn't really best summarised in the Afrikaans expression 'n Volk red homself ("a people rescues itself"), with its implying that a better way to "empower" the Lower Classes and others Socioeconomically Marginalised is to appeal to a manufactured delusion of National Unity and Identity towards a divinely-inspired call to Reddingsdaad ("rescue action") drawing solely on its own resources and volition towards self-reliance and empowerment rather than the "enslaving dependency" of State charity ... and yet failing to get into specifics on how the so-called "REAL AmeriKKKan" is expected to be thus attracted to such an appeal which risks crossing into the insincere?

*************

It's probably just me, but I can just imagine rank-and-file "Tea Party" supporters, wallowing in their Luscious Glory of "REAL AmeriKKKanism" excusing poverty, fecundity and gross stupidity as "virtuous" and at once "patriotic," being the sort who can easily be suckered into responding to "419"-stylee "appeals for help" such as are found in "spam" e-mails supposedly from troops as were previously in Iraq, replete with claims that they found substantial fortunes of war booty in raids on several of the "palaces" of Saddam Hussein during their tours of duty, and they need help to move such out of the country and avoid possible court-martial.

Especially considering where the targeted therefor probably have serious money problems themselves and couldn't help but use some extra money ... yet at the same time are unaware that in so responding, they could wind up getting into considerable legal and financial trouble, what with the (presumed) senders demanding all manner of "processing fees," "administrative fees," "taxes," "stamp duties," some bordering on the outright whimsical, farcical even, before the "fortune" is (if at all) released.

Your Correspondent isn't the TV-watching type much himself, but I understand that a Doritos TV advert as aired during last night's Super Bowl worldcast as cost but $20 to produce won its producer a $1 million bonus as was awarded by Doritos' makers, Frito-Lay, for the best such advert during the Super Bowl.

Which works out to but 67 cents/second for a 30-second commercial as cost about $3.5 million to have such broadcast!

(For the record, the cheapest feature film ever produced was the 1904 English potboiler Rescued by Rover, which cost its producers the sum of 17/6 [seventeen shillings, sixpence; equivalent to 88p in decimal money and worth about £125 in today's monies] in its entire.)

Last night, Your Correspondent decided to try a plate of baking powder biscuits made with a hybrid, as it were, of Hudson Cream Self-Rising Flour and Whole Wheat Flour, equal parts. And he admits that the Hudson Cream Flour had such an unparalled softness and lightness of texture that put the Gold Medal Self-Rising Flour he was using heretofore to shame.

The which translated rather well into the finished product, even with the addition of some shredded reduced-fat Mexican cheese blend and salt-free herb blend into the basic recipe to add some variety ... as well as replacing, out of deference to Your Correspondent's being on doctor's orders to watch cholesterol and add fiber to the diet, one tablespoon of the shortening with 3 tbsp. golden flaxseed meal.

So, for such among you lamenting the imminent demise(?) of White Lily Self-Rising Flour since its acquisition by Smucker's some while back (especially across the South, where hot baking-powder biscuits are a mealtime requisite by Unwritten Southern Law), and are looking for a suitable replacement, look no further ... and order some for yourself, especially should your local supermarket be unable to stock it on the shelf.
