20h26 UTC; TUESDAY, 31 JANUARY 2012: The dictionary defines "doublethink," a concept originally created by George Orwell for his novel Nineteen Eighty Four (1948), as "illogical or deliberately perverse thinking in terms that distort or reverse the truth to make it more acceptable." (Orwell himself saw such in the dystopic police-state world of Oceania as is the background of said novel as being one of a series of mental exercises in service to Class Consciousness, requiring the holding and simultaneous acceptance of two conflicting viewpoints as being correct. And doing so constantly inasmuch as the official line of the Party is subject to constant and sudden change, so requiring the application of doublethink as necessary.)

The which may perhaps serve well, reader, to explain what amounts to a conservative fetish with doublethink as an ideological tool. Witness this letter to the editor from a recent number of the LaCrosse (WI) Tribune as somehow influences, nay, inspires, this particular post:
In “1984,” George Orwell predicted that future oligarchies would succeed in training their adherents in a kind of selective amnesia he termed “doublethink” — the ability to hold, without irony, two contradictory views simultaneously. The supporters of today’s oligarchy confirm Orwell’s prediction.

They demand freedom of speech and assembly for corporations through the Citizens United act, while taking these same rights away from public workers by abolishing their unions. While denouncing unchecked government, that is, they want to give our government unchecked power over its employees.

They demand we stop “punishing success” by taxing the rich, while demanding compensation cuts from successful teachers for the good of the state. And while demanding such sacrifices from public employees, they demand the opposite — tax cuts — for themselves. They demand equality between lowly public- and private-sector workers, but denounce calls for more equality between the rich and everyone else.

They say spending cuts and tax cuts will create jobs and reduce the deficit, but basic economics and history tell us that only demand creates jobs, that spending cuts only reduce demand, and that tax increases, not tax cuts, are our only way of paying down the deficit.

They claim “socialism” caused the European meltdown, while “socialistic” (by our standards) economies like Germany’s and Sweden’s remain among the healthiest on earth.

They pretend that Gov. Scott Walker’s policies are working as Wisconsin continues losing more jobs than it gains.

It may not be 1984, but “doublethink” is alive and well among today’s conservatives.
So, with that as backdrop, Your Correspondent would like to use conservatives' umbarge and contempt for what Fox News Channel, the conservative prolefeed outlet par excellence, insists are the "REAL AmeriKKKans"--the Lower Classes, essentially--for a series of Adventures in Doublethink that the hard-wired conservative Zealot and True Believer is expected to blindly, without question or reservation, accept as the official conservative line towards the Lower Classes. The which, in any event, ought be used as counterattack prolefeed against conservative such for Indecision 2012 all the more (responsibly, of course; "spam" can only undermine the cause to the point of backfiring).

Let's proceed, shall we, boys and girls?
  1. The "REAL AmeriKKKan" sees himself as a True Patriot, yet may be too class-conscious vis-a-vis his own real role and place in the community.
  2. "REAL AmeriKKKans" are True Believers in industry and the work ethos, yet lack realistic job or career skills to the point of exploitation risk from "work-from-home," "work online" and MLM scams as may risk loss of their limited savings.
  3. "REAL AmeriKKKans" see Ekonomesie Vryheid met Amerikaanse Eienskappe as essential to Our National and Sovereign Identity, yet lack sound consumer education skills and sense as can help them make wiser buying decisions.
  4. "REAL AmeriKKKans" support the denationalisation of State Social Security "to empower the workers towards a greater sense of personal responsibility," yet have no realistic knowledge of how the equities markets as are integral to a privatised system (see Latin America, Chile in particular) work beyond latent anti-Semitic platitudes about Jews "having too much control over business."
  5. "REAL AmeriKKKans" insist on empowering the poor to help themselves, yet insist that such be done solely on their own initiative and resources, any outside help or resources being seen as "perpetuating dependency."
  6. "REAL AmeriKKKans" may believe in democracy, yet insist on "card check" (as in voter-identity mandates) "to prevent electoral fraud" as hardly exists except in right-wing atrocity prolefeed of a highly-sensationalised nature.
  7. "REAL AmeriKKKans" insist that AmeriKKKa was Divinely Ordained to be Lord and Master of the World, the Universe and the 28 Known Galaxies, yet fail to recognise the sovereign rights of other nations as much as their own brand of nationalist exceptionalism.
  8. "REAL AmeriKKKans" insist they are the True Guardians of Morals, Decency and Common Sense, yet insist that the Lower Classes to be thus regarded "lack any healthy regard for morals or decency" and could not be expected to change, even if they wanted to.
  9. "REAL AmeriKKKans" insist that industry-based self-regulation will help "strengthen" free enterprise and "ensure prosperity," yet are unaware that the Codes of Good Practice as are at the heart of self-regulation could unwittingly contain language condoning cartel behaviour and its harmful and detrimental effects upon business and consumers alike.
  10. "REAL AmeriKKKans" believe in "Wise Use"--so long as such condones the wasteful, the inefficient and the counterproductive excused as "maximising existing production capacity" towards "prosperity."
  11. "REAL AmeriKKKans" see themselves as Culture Warriors, yet regard the acme of their supposedly "superior" Amerikanischer Realkultur to be the "music shows" of Branson, MO (never mind the likelihood of their containing subtle conservative, "Tea Party" prolefeed messages).
  12. "REAL AmeriKKKans" insist that reducing taxes to as close to a nil rate as feasable will "stimulate jobs creation," yet fail to recognise that taxes provide for the same Government services they take advantage of, yet carp on and on about.
  13. "REAL AmeriKKKans" see themselves as Defenders of Traditional Family Values, all the while abusing wives and/or children (sometimes to the point of rape) and too often spending time in the potentially unhealthy company of like-minded men in obnoxious exercises in misogyny.
  14. "REAL AmeriKKKans" see themselves as Defenders and Warriors of Morality and Decency, yet can't resist visiting adult businesses and/or adult-oriented websites in camera all too often (sometimes to the point of perousing child-porn websites without their knowing it).
  15. "REAL AmeriKKKans" insist that they are the Last Great Hope for Western Civilisation, unaware that such is probably dogwhistle code for maintaining a White Man's Burden mindset excusing genocide, rape, and worse in the name of "civilising backward peoples."
  16. "REAL AmeriKKKans" see themselves as True Believers in a Self-Sufficient AmeriKKKa as Our Last Great Hope for Defending Our Dear Lovely Nation, unaware that North Korea, in its Luscious Glory of militaristic sadism, expects its people to make sacrifices all the more under the banner of "self-reliance" in the face of a pariahdom it alone created.
  17. "REAL AmeriKKKans" insist the automobile is an agency of AmeriKKKan Freedom and Free Choice, yet fail to realise that such contributes to increased traffic congestion, pollution and waste of time and resources.
  18. "REAL AmeriKKKans" insist on "mutual self-help" being an "empowering" agency of their own kind, yet insist that cooperativism (itself one with the very concept of mutual self-help) is one with Evil and Godless Communism as Endangers Our National and Sovereign Identity.
  19. "REAL AmeriKKKans" insist that the mainstream media is "dominated to an unhealthy extent by liberal elements and forces***showing reckless and utter disregard for Traditional AmeriKKKan Values," yet rely on the worst sort of prolefeed to an unhealthy extent, one dependent almost exclusively on sport, crime, astrology and celebrity gossip.
  20. "REAL AmeriKKKans" insist that their fellow "REAL AmeriKKKans" find work, yet insist that the public schools are "showing reckless and utter disregard for Traditional Values and Morality," especially since the Supreme Court's Engel v. Vitale ruling in 1963 as banned officially-sanctioned and -composed prayers as part of the school day (not, as they widely believe, school prayer per se).
  21. "REAL AmeriKKKans" insist that Old Glory is a Holy and Sacred Icon of AmeriKKKan National and Sovereign Identity and Unity as is Entitled Due Respect and Reverence (as in recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance), yet fail to recognise that the Supreme Court, in their 1943 West Virginia State Board of Education v. Miller ruling (which, itself, reversed their 1940 ruling in Minersville School District v. Gorlitz), held that students cannot be compelled to stand for, and recite, the Pledge of Allegiance, especially where their beliefs of conscience (Jehovah's Witnesses, in these two cases) disapprove.
Well, at least it's a starting point ... and I hope you appreciate these exercises in doublethink taking issue with the doublethink of the "REAL AmeriKKKan" in his Luscious Glory of arrogant racial and xenophobic self-righteousness as may actually be his own worst undoing, making the so-called "REAL AmeriKKKan" his own worst enemy.

Now--any questions?
