14h32 UTC; SATURDAY, 24 MARCH 2012: Doesn't it reek of blackmail, extortion even, for GOP Presidential wannabe (and front runner in the primaries to date) Mitt Romney to call for his three rivals (viz., Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul), in the name of "party unity" preparatory to their Tampa conclave this summer, to please leave the Presidential race posthaste and rally round the Romney campaign all the more?

And is it exactly kosher, halal even?

Meanwhile, that Etch-a-Sketch analogy from a Romney campaign aide vis-a-vis the right to revise campaign positions and related articles of faith at any time, and as deemed necessary, ought recall the following sequence from Orwell's Nineteen Eighty Four whence O'Brien explains unto Winston Smith the "why and wherefore" of the Oceanic regime's having to brainwash (as it were) all suspected criminals, "traitors" and "thought-criminals" as it did, reducing them in the end to "useful idiots" in service to the Party and Ingsoc for a brief time before their "pre-emptive" (as it were) execution:
"You are thinking," he [O'Brien] said, "that since we intend to destroy you utterly, so that nothing that you say or do can make the smallest difference -- in that case, why do we go to the trouble of interrogating you first? That is what you were thinking, was it not?"

"Yes," said Winston.

O'Brien smiled slightly. "You are a flaw in the pattern, Winston. You are a stain that must be wiped out. Did I not tell you just now that we are different from the persecutors of the past? We are not content with negative obedience, nor even with the most abject submission. When finally you surrender to us, it must be of your own free will. We do not destroy the heretic because he resists us: so long as he resists us we never destroy him. We convert him, we capture his inner mind, we reshape him. We burn all evil and all illusion out of him; we bring him over to our side, not in appearance, but genuinely, heart and soul. We make him one of ourselves before we kill him. It is intolerable to us that an erroneous thought should exist anywhere in the world, however secret and powerless it may be. Even in the instant of death we cannot permit any deviation. In the old days the heretic walked to the stake still a heretic, proclaiming his heresy, exulting in it. Even the victim of the Russian purges could carry rebellion locked up in his skull as he walked down the passage waiting for the bullet. But we make the brain perfect before we blow it out. The command of the old despotisms was 'Thou shalt not'. The command of the totalitarians was 'Thou shalt'. Our command is 'Thou art'. No one whom we bring to this place ever stands out against us. Everyone is washed clean. Even those three miserable traitors in whose innocence you once believed -- Jones, Aaronson, and Rutherford -- in the end we broke them down. I took part in their interrogation myself. I saw them gradually worn down, whimpering, grovelling, weeping -- and in the end it was not with pain or fear, only with penitence. By the time we had finished with them they were only the shells of men. There was nothing left in them except sorrow for what they had done, and love of Big Brother. It was touching to see how they loved him. They begged to be shot quickly, so that they could die while their minds were still clean."

His voice had grown almost dreamy. The exaltation, the lunatic enthusiasm, was still in his face. He is not pretending, thought Winston, he is not a hypocrite, he believes every word he says. What most oppressed him was the consciousness of his own intellectual inferiority. He watched the heavy yet graceful form strolling to and fro, in and out of the range of his vision. O'Brien was a being in all ways larger than himself. There was no idea that he had ever had, or could have, that O'Brien had not long ago known, examined, and rejected. His mind contained Winston's mind. But in that case how could it be true that O'Brien was mad? It must be he, Winston, who was mad. O'Brien halted and looked down at him. His voice had grown stern again.

"Do not imagine that you will save yourself, Winston, however completely you surrender to us. No one who has once gone astray is ever spared. And even if we chose to let you live out the natural term of your life, still you would never escape from us. What happens to you here is for ever. Understand that in advance. We shall crush you down to the point from which there is no coming back. Things will happen to you from which you could not recover, if you lived a thousand years. Never again will you be capable of ordinary human feeling. Everything will be dead inside you. Never again will you be capable of love, or friendship, or joy of living, or laughter, or curiosity, or courage, or integrity. You will be hollow. We shall squeeze you empty, and then we shall fill you with ourselves."
And is it any wonder that "Tea Party" prolefeed is as replete as it is with allusions to Nineteen Eighty Four in their Luscious Glory of Reclaiming Our Dear Lovely Nation from Itself, hoping to claim Redemption for Value in the process?

As if seeking to leverage all manner of idle change into "productive capital" towards the Greater Socioeconomic Rescue of Our Dear Lovely Nation based on the Afrikaner Nationalist motto of 'n Volk red homself wasn't quite good enough to help sustain the whole cycle discussed upon previously, imagine such specimens of Zealotry and True Belief in the "complete and final" denationalisation of State Social Security per Latinoamericano models "to further empower the working-classes into embracing self-reliance and personal responsibility" finding common ground with the greater movement behind 'n Volk red homself in calling for having retirement savings further leveraged into "productive capital" in form and fashion of The Patriot Fund in its Luscious Glory of Defending and Strengthening ekonomesie vryheid met Amerikaanse eienskappe "gebore ons die Volk, die Volk te doen" as the Foundation of Our National and Sovereign Identity as a Peculiar Among the Nations.

In exchange for such leverage, the "approved funds" under this Noble Experiment would receive dividends from The Patriot Fund on a regular basis.

But would such be kosher, halal even?

As if industry-sponsored ratings schemes to alert the masses to violent content in films, TV programming and video games wasn't exactly good enough for the self-anointed "moral guardians" and other critics of Extreme Ultraviolence insisting that such has Clear and Present Danger of Unconsciously Promoting Aggressive, Asocial or Otherwise Criminal Tendencies with Frequent and Prolonged Viewing, several such are reportedly pressing Congress for having clear and prominent warnings to that effect displayed on packaging and in advertising and marketing materials.

IMHO, the most effective way such could work is if the warning was presented in Engrish; the better, hopefully, to get would-be buyers to start asking questions translating into second thoughts about so buying. Consider (with help from this possible idea:
WARNING: Scenes of violence or asocial. Repeatedly, is a simple program for criminal and asocial public content, we recommend a positive program/game/video.
"But will it play in Peoria?"

With at least two Progressive groups calling upon the IRS to look into, and revoke if need be, the supposed "tax-beneficial" status per Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of three "Tea Party"-related sects claiming "social benefit" status thereby while engaging in proscribed political activity, maybe it was time to start asking what exactly the "Tea Party" regards as "social benefit" activity serving back-door political ends.

One obvious (if illogical) such: Filing challenges to licence renewals by PBS- and NPR-affiliated TV and radio stations of a largely educational or public-service nature as get dismissed by the FCC for being "frivolous, illogical, insincere or otherwise absurd" in implying, based largely upon anecdotal or otherwise "boilerplate" evidence, that their programming "shows a clear and present pattern of liberal bias" or otherwise "displays reckless and utter disregard for Our Traditional Christian Values and the Nobility and Greatness of Our Dear Lovely Nation." (In fact, how many licence-renewal challenges are there outstanding as are based on the preceding?)

In some parts of the British Commonwealth, especially in the Caribbean, the archaic term "buggery," whose origins date to the 14th century, is still used in their legal codes vis-a-vis Crimes Against Nature, among them homosexuality and bestiality; no doubt the Legacy of Colonialism and the White Man's Burden as revered deeply and dearly by the Fox News types.

Which happens to be the charge against two California gay males who, during a port call in Dominica on a recent gay cruise of the Caribbean, were caught in flagrante delicto aboard the ship. (As if "buggery" wasn't good enough, the authorities in Dominica threw in Indecent Exposure to their charge sheet.)

With the "Tea Party" crowd insisting that only ekonomesie vryheid, &c., is the Last and Only Hope for Reclaiming Our Dear Lovely Nation as the One True Center of the World, the Universe and the 28 Known Galaxies, consider how they would react in their prolefeed to these developments as would be in line with such articles of faith as aforementioned:
  • The three leading online-dating sites (as in, and Spark Networks) have signed a Joint Understanding calling on all signatories to cross-check their member databanks against the National Sex Offender Registry with immediate effect; this to settle claims of Gross Negligence and Dereliction of Duty against when it emerged that one member's date turned out to be a Notorious Sex Criminal wanted in several states. It'll be interesting to see how the faith-based dating sites such as and react, let alone indicate whether they would follow along (I could just imagine playing that "No Good Christian ..." meme of logical fallacy based on the "No True Scotsman ..." such to explain its desire not to cooperate).
  • If the State of Florida was unwilling to accept Federal funds for high-speed passenger rail development on the grounds that such "was unlikely to generate significant or measurable benefit" (typical "Tea Party" prolefeed trope right there), along comes a newly-launched affiliate of the Florida East Coast Railroad styling themselves "All Aboard Florida", which announced plans to launch a long-distance commuter rail link between South Florida and Orlando which, once completed in 2014 (and requiring construction of a spur off the FEC's main line to serve Orlando, as it turns out), would provide a frequent service with top speeds of 100-110 mph throughout on largely existing track.
Meanwhile, Your Correspondent would like to ask of these same "Tea Party" prolefeed ideologues if they have any documented, peer-reviewed, scientifically-tested even, evidence proving their assertion that "complete and final" regulatory relief in certain industrial sectors actually translated within measurable distance into:
  • greater consumer options;
  • increased competition over time (as opposed to an illusory such lasting but a few months, to be followed by a "shakeup" officially to be explained as "natural selection" and "evolution");
  • enhanced value for money (as in lower consumer prices); and
  • significant and measurable jobs creation ensuing (as opposed to purely illusory "make-work" positions).
So how do we know the proof offered is credible, documentary, holographic even (as opposed to the likelihood of forgeries in the "Hitler Diaries" stylee made even more credible thanks to word-processing software whose byproducts can easily fool forensic experts in forged and questionable documents)?
