Posted in response to recent Unfortunate Events, details of which
Your Correspondent would rather not bore you with inasmuch as
you're probably aware of them from the news.

18h50 UTC; THURSDAY, 4 DECEMBER 2014: Well, Your Correspondent is glad to be back.

Especially given where a colonoscopy just yesterday revealed a non-cancerous tumour which was thereby removed. And the preparations beforehand he managed to get through, especially having to take a rather weird-tasting compound to aid in cleaning out the colon for said procedure.

Meanwhile, paleoconservative prolefeeder Glenn Beck
will want to watch his back, what with a Federal magistrate in Boston having ruled just this morning that a defamation lawsuit against him over claims that a certain Abdulrahman Alharbi was a "mastermind" of the Boston Marathon Massacree in 2013 can proceed in the courts, rejecting Beck's assertion that Alharbi was a Limited Purpose or Involuntary Public Figure requiring a higher standard of proof that Alharbi's good name and repute were compromised by Beck's claims and assertions.

Mannie Shewitz at ForwardProgressives.com elaborates thus on the court's rejecting Meneer Beck's assertions:
While I’m not a lawyer, here’s the basic reasoning behind the rejection [of] Beck’s request to have the lawsuit thrown out. His attorneys claimed that Glenn Beck’s repeated allegations that Mr. Alharbi funded or otherwise assisted Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev in the April 2013 were immune from the defamation lawsuit since Mr. Alharbi was considered an “involuntary” public figure at the time. However, even after Abdulrahman Alharbi had been cleared of any involvement, therefore removing him from being a public figure, Glenn Beck knowingly and willingly continued to assert that he was responsible for the bombings. At this point, the behavior changed from criticism or allegations against a public figure to harassment and defamation of a private citizen. Mr. Beck also had a radio show which he used to broadcast these defamatory remarks which then made his company and the distributor of his show liable as well.
Which, in any case, should be a warning to conservative prolefeeder media, print, broadcast and online, to be especially careful, watchful even, of their journalistic standards, particularly where their journalistic forte is one as requires overbaked sensationalism, false equivalence, pandering to latent prejudices and stereotypes, appealing to crude patriotic emotions and exploiting especially a vulnerable, weak-minded and easily-influenced audience among their stock in trade for "winning over hearts and minds."

Not to mention being the likely beginning of the end for paleoconservative prolefeed base and crude.

With certain paleoconservative Zealots and True Believers questioning the Loyalty and True Patriot Love of such protesters in Ferguson, MO (and, just in the last day or so, New York City) by suggesting that same are probably "Communists" or worse, and calling for McCarthy Red Scare-stylee Congressional enquiries reeking of Communist-regime "show trials" "For My God, My People, My Nation" (and all that cal), such should make you wonder if "mutability of the past" (a la George Orwell's dystopic police-state of Oceania in his Nineteen Eighty Four) is an ideological Holy of Holies among the Christian Patriot Right and paleoconservatives generally.

Perhaps we should let Mr. Orwell explain the concept behind "mutability of the past," essentially one with historical revisionism:
Past events, it is argued, have no objective existence, but survive only in written records and in human memories. The past is whatever the records and the memories agree upon. And since the Party is in full control of all records and in equally full control of the minds of its members, it follows that the past is whatever the Party chooses to make it. It also follows that though the past is alterable, it never has been altered in any specific instance. For when it has been recreated in whatever shape is needed at the moment, then this new version is the past, and no different past can ever have existed. This holds good even when, as often happens, the same event has to be altered out of recognition several times in the course of a year. At all times the Party is in possession of absolute truth, and clearly the absolute can never have been different from what it is now. It will be seen that the control of the past depends above all on the training of memory. To make sure that all written records agree with the orthodoxy of the moment is merely a mechanical act. But it is also necessary to remember that events happened in the desired manner. And if it is necessary to rearrange one's memories or to tamper with written records, then it is necessary to forget that one has done so. The trick of doing this can be learned like any other mental technique. It is learned by the majority of Party members, and certainly by all who are intelligent as well as orthodox. In Oldspeak it is called, quite frankly, "reality control". In Newspeak it is called doublethink, though doublethink comprises much else as well.
May I ask David Barton, pseudohistoric darling of the Christian Patriot Right, what exactly he considers to be "Christian" models of computer programming, coding and data entry, what with his insisting that very much anything and everything has to follow "Christian Principles", howbeit vaguely defined?

Our Australian brethren are rather obsessive in the censorship arena, having perhaps been the first (in 1909) in the world to establish a State-sanctioned film censorship scheme and reinforcing classification "For General Exhibition" or "Not For General Exhibition" (i.e., Adults Only) under the banner of Protecting Children and Maintaining the Community's Peace, Safety and Good Moral Order. Which, over time, would extend to television programming, "top shelf" adult magazines, home videos and video games.

So it was no surprise for the rather prudish Aussies that Target Australia (no connexion with Target here in the United States save for their sharing the "bullseye" logotype) bowed to online pressure (as in an online petition signed by over 72,000 persons) urging removal from sale of the video game Grand Theft Auto VI on the contention that its backstory and premise condones and sanctions the murder of women solely for thrills and fun, and that such could spark copycat incidents for which the game's publishers may be ill-prepared to accept liability or culpability. (Target stateside will continue to sell the game in question, subject to age check as per the industry's Mature rating therefor as limits sale or rental to persons 16 and upwards.)

So till next time, folks: "73"
(Which, incidentally, was railroad telegraphers' shorthand for "goodbye.")
