Certain specimens of conservative prolefeeder must have this fetish for using the old rape analogy as a prolefeed weapon for to attack especially unpopular government programmes or campaigns ... unaware that, in so doing, they could be trivialising the pain, degredation and humiliation that are suffered by those who have been raped so as to make light of same in the wrong sort of way.

Case in point: Judson "Tea Party Nation" Phillips recently sending out an e-mail of an article by one Darwin Rockantansky in which the rape analogy is used to attack the Affordable Care Act and its premise of making health cover all the more affordable for Real Americans. Money quote:
But I will encourage you to think about your own families and extended families and decide for yourself if there is a point at which this rape experience could possibly become enjoyable; rape of our free will, rape of our religious convictions, rape of free markets, rape of our Constitution, a brutal rape of the American Dream and personal freedoms.
In effect, using rape, and the fear thereof, as a scare tactic not unlike anti-Communist paranoia of the Joe McCarthy model and stylee common in the early 1950's--until Edward R. Murrow's See It Now programme laid bare the dark side of Sen. McCarthy's anti-Communist excesses, exposing him as a drunken, power-mad demagogue who would stop at nothing all the while, insisting that God and Country are being thus served.

And it would take the Army-McCarthy hearings, as seen on national TV through much of the spring of 1954, to be its downfall, made all the worse by alcoholism and his own personal ego as may have hastened his death from cirrosis in 1957.

But not before comedian John Henry Foulk successfully bankrupted the publishers of Counterattack, an anti-Communist newsletter published by several former FBI agents palming themselves off as "professional anti-Communists", which also published the occasional compendium Red Channels as a "watch-and-ward" for those in film, radio and television of such with suspected Communist associations, sympathies or tendencies; Foulk contended that his being listed in Red Channels essentially amounted to blacklisting with intent to deprive him of the right to earning a livelihood, and that the information as caused his listing was based on hearsay and conjecture. The which, in any event, showed just how low some with past FBI associations would go to in the post-World War II period to exploit fears of Communism arriving in the United States after its grand sweep of eastern Europe and China in the late 1940's by palming themselves off as "professional anti-Communists" when many such weren't even assigned to anti-Communist activities during their FBI tenure.

And which, come to think of it, may have been driven by as much Al Cohol as their own warped "patriotic" egos; witness Matt Cvitec of I Was a Communist for the FBI infamy, whose duties as an informant for the FBI, though credible at first, eventually were marked by alcoholism and poor performance ratings, eventually forcing the FBI to no longer require his services in 1949. (In any case, such exploits would eventually become a best-selling book, with pre-publication serialisation in The Saturday Evening Post, as well as a movie and radio series.)

There are limits, know, on how far the rape analogy can be used as a prolefeed tactic. Especially when seeking to "win over the hearts and minds" of the masses into armed insurrection and rebellion likely to be exploited by the Dregs of Society who use "patriotism" as a mask to conceal evil and dangerous intentions. No wonder James Boswell was right when he observed in his Life of Samuel Johnson that "patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel."

"Another small house is finished in the next block"
(to Engrishfy the closing remarks on every episode of the "slice-of-life"
radio series Vic and Sade through the years)
