00h UTC; FRIDAY, 10 AUGUST 2012: In the continuing file known as "AmeriKKKa Should Be More Like China" (as in that conservative trope suggesting that the only way to hasten socioeconomic recovery and jobs creation is to embrace Chinese mindsets of onerous and blatant disregard for workers' rights, workplace safety and liberty generally), Your Correspondent understands where a criminal court (or what passes for it) in Beijing took but four hours Wednesday to hear the case of one Gu Kailai, wife of disgraced Chongqing Communist Party boss Bo Xilai, facing charges of murder of a British business partner ... the which, as it turns out, has produced what could be China's biggest scandal since the Communist Party came unto power under Mao Zedong in 1949, and its worst power struggle since the depravities of the Cultural Revolution (Bo himself reportedly having fallen out of favour for a high-level leadership post in the Central Committee when it convenes this fall to choose a new leader, and has threatened to go to extreme measures).

No verdict was handed down immediately, but it's been suggested that Gu could face the death penalty (which, in China, involves a pistol shot fired at close range to the temple).

What Mitt Romney isn't telling you for his "real" welfare-reform agenda, in its Luscious Glory of emphasising Industry, Self-Reliance and Personal Responsibility: With regards to such who, "despite reasonable efforts," still cannot find work (yet are not experiencing some sort of disability which can be medically proven), expect such to be "mentored" at public expense into "multi-level marketing" (MLM) schemes as:
  • emphasise building downline over selling products and services of value; or
  • require its neophyte distributors to "front-load" worthless Mickey Mouse on "liberal credit terms," then flog them off at inflated "suggested retail prices" in line with Corporate Policy (as opposed to "drop-shipping" arrangements or otherwise leveraging any websites or blogs they may have with etailer affiliate programmes).
All the while expected to accept, blindly and without reservation, that MLM is "the new wave in retailing"--but at what price exactly?

Something worth watching out for ahead of Indecision 2012: Videlicet, the clear and present likelihood for Rush Limbaugh's radio programme being cancelled suddenly and without prior warning to even his good and loyal support base of weak-minded, easily-influenced "poor whites" across the so-called "REAL AmeriKKKa" whose Holy Trinity is one of poverty, fecundity and ignorance rivalling anything depicted by Erskine Caldwell with candor and frankness in Tobacco Road and God's Little Acre especially.

And even if he subsequently blames some sort of "conspiracy" involving President Obama and his "Deep State cronies and lackeys" for his shock downfall, the Reality will be more obvious: For one, advertiser unease since the Sandra Fluke affair broke back on Leap Day, prompting no less than 40 major national advertisers (to date) pulling their ads therefrom in response to boycott threats.

For another, loss of audience numbers in major markets, meaning that about the only stations still loyal to The Oxycontin Boar are in smaller markets across the so-called "REAL AmeriKKKa" with an older, easily-manipulate audience that, in any event, advertisers don't care much about. And what's more, said stations tend to be on the increasingly-unprofitable AM band, meaning station operators so carrying his show have to cover the ensuing losses with profits from their more popular FM-band stations (cross-subsidy, in effect), with tax losses to afflicted broadcasters becoming rather significant and measurable (not to mention many such still seeing their AM stations as "jewels in the crown," as it were, that they don't want to see going dark out of selfish pride more than sound business sense).

Which, all in all, boils down to The Bigger Problem: Meneer Limbaugh "himself" and his constantly puerile tone and nuance, especially so since Sandra Fluke revealed just how seriously unhinged the self-annointed "Truth Detector" hath become, and what same poses to Our National and Sovereign Identity as a Peculiar Among the Nations. Hence, increasing numbers of radio stations will start to realise that shows like those of not just Limbaugh, but also other conservative prolefeeders like Glenn Beck, Tom Leykis, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, &c., are Gross Liabilities to the continued viability of their properties that they would rather not be caught dead with, let alone forcing their stations to suddenly go dark (as in off the air) without warning.

So don't go whining about President Obama, &c., "endangering [conservatives'] free-speech rights" when scores of stations suddenly start dropping such hate prolefeed (and, in the process, absent fresh and innovative programming concepts to win over younger listeners, go dark on very short notice); it's they themselves as should be responsible and liable.

As for that Grand Delusion about "clean coal" = cheap electricity from everlasting to everlasting = "sustained socioeconomic prosperity" (after the so-called "AmeriKKKan Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity," successor to "AmeriKKKans for Balanced Energy Choices"), their prolefeed in this respect, unfortunately, is Misleading by Willful and Conscious Omission of Critical Facts:

Videlicet, that it's actually the end users of electricity--residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural--who will actually pay for this Noble Experiment in the end.

After all, electric utilities (or their generating affiliates) have to recover somwhere the costs of not only constructing such plants, but also that of the requisite technology as would (in theory) "capture" emissions as would otherwise be airborne and cause air pollution. (Not to mention the costs of decommissioning and demolishing older coal-fired power stations expected to be thus supplanted--or, if lucky, converting certain such to standby status, using natural gas, biomass, refuse-derived fuels [RDF's] or even wood wastes as fuel.)

As well as those of transmission and end-user distribution.

Which can be especially costly in such states as have, under the banner of ekonomesie vryheid met Amerikaanse eienskappe, instituted "user choice" policies to encourage end users to shop around and choose what they think is the best deal in end-user electricity supply; studies hath it that states with "user choice" electricity policies (Texas in particular), end-user electric costs will tend to be more expensive than in states where traditional models still prevail, all things considered.

In the end, it will all come down to the average electric user paying for such exercises in obnoxiousness based on flawed pseudoscience perverted to serve AmeriKKKan National Exceptionalism as is held deeply and dearly as a "patriot" article of faith. Especially so those among the Lower Classes expected to practice wasteful electric use habits in the interest of (or so the executives are hesitant to acknowledge openly) "protecting the bottom line," especially shareholder dividends and bondholders' interest payments.

(Which brings to mind an episode involving Chicago transit magnate Charles Tyson Yerkes who, in reply to a suggestion from a lower-level manager of his Chicago Surface Lines that extra cars be added during the rush hours to reduce overcrowding, is said to have replied: "Ridiculous! It's the straphangers that pay the dividends!")
