18h UTC; THURSDAY, 17 OCTOBER 2013: Finally, the GOP/"Tea Party" Shutdown of 2013 hath ended.

Ended, it turns out, with considerably wounded pride and prestige for the "Tea Party" (pseudo)movement, what with the corporate and financial interests as were its real "sugar daddies" (all the while expected to see the whole as a "grass-roots," "people-centred" even, movement to Defend the Constitution and Reclaim Thy Dear and Lovely Nation), now licking their wounds and essentially regretting their having fallen for the pipe dream of using the "REAL AmeriKKKan" as cheap, easily-manipulated stooges (thanks, no doubt, to certain conservative prolefeed operatives in service to the cause as were probably paid handsomely under the table, so long as they kept quiet about the payola) for "the Four Hundred," all the while not expected to know what's really happening all the while.

And, according to Standard & Poor's, at a cost to ekonomesie vryheid met Amerikaanse eienskappe of $24 billion throughout the 16 days thereof in lost wages, productivity and unemployment.

Which translates to a per diem loss to the economy of $1.5 billion.

Equivalent all the further to $62.5 million/hour ... $1,041,666.60/minute ... even $17,361.11/second.

But then again, the GOP/"Tea Party," in its Luscious Glory of seeing ekonomesie vryheid, &c., as the Great White Father of Our National Character and Identity as a Sovereign Peculiar Among the Nations, doesn't seem to have any due regard for money, or the concept thereof. Let alone a desire for "maximising taxpayer value" through campaigns of "Prosperity Through Austerity" as are unlikely to produce the desideratum sought all the more, instead backfiring with reduced living standards making Cuba and North Korea (where enforced austerity is seen as "essential to hastening the final achievement of Socialism") look like the worst of Branson's "music shows" in the final analysis.

And given this contempt for the concept of money, as well as the value therefor, such a weird and potentially unholy alliance as the GOP/"Tea Party" and Christian Dominionists fail to realise that taxes are what makes possible government. And that there aren't really all that many sovereign peculiars out there with developed economies as can be seen to be self-financing (as in a nil tax rate for both business and individuals), such as "Tea Party" ideology expects of Thy Dear and Lovely Land.

Which brings up this Interesting Suggestion, directed to such specimens of small business planning to participate in the Small Business Saturday campaign on November 30th this year (designed to call attention to the value and importance of "pee-and-em" businesses when shopping for the Festive Season, and their distinct advantages over "big box" retailers and malls): May I be the first to call on Small Business Saturday participants to consider donating 1.5% of their sales generated on that day towards Reducing the National Debt of the United States as a show of solidarity against the GOP/"Tea Party" Zealotry and True Belief as have only worsened the National Debt from Bush the Younger on.

Not to mention protesting the ex-lax and inaction on the National Debt, especially on such counts as insist on keeping taxes all the lower "to stimulate private-sector jobs creation"--in theory; the facts, however, dispute such an interconnexion between lower tax rates and bona fide jobs creation (especially where certain vulnerable subpopulations as are all the more difficult to employ come into the equation, including those from welfare-dependency backgrounds, the disabled, veterans, those from lower-income or economically-challenged areas with limited job or career skills and even National Minorities).

So what prevents your otherwise considering such an otherwise noble initiative to add value to Small Business Saturday 2013?
