20h50 UTC; WEDNESDAY, 5 FEBRUARY 2014: Firstly, readers, Your Correspondent needs to offer Appy Polly Loggies for the delay in getting this posted today, as he needed some advice in whether his existing PC can be made upgradable from WindowsXP to Windows7 ... learning, in the process, that while it may be possible, such could be a) expensive (especially in terms of getting a new software licence), and b) considerably slower in terms of performance.

But on the other hand, he did happen to notice a refurbished laptop PC at a local computer shop costing around $269. Still, though, he is weighing his options to see what could best accomodate his limited resources (made even more so because of his being disabled, not to mention the want of decent hometown resources as could help towards the cost of at least a decent refurbished laptop meeting a mininum need of surfing Teh Innerwebz, watching online streaming videos, playing Facebook-type online games and listening to streaming audio such as from online radio stations); as well, he'd appreciate the help of you readers towards this end.

Some of the headlines Fox News doesn't want you knowing about, what with their imprecations likely being seen as running counter to their idealised, Arcadian even, agenda:
  1. As if the idea of AmeriKKKan troops somehow being, as per pseudohistorian David Barton, "esteemed and revered by God" wasn't good enough, the Senate Armed Services Committee got word of where Army recruiters got an illicit cut of the bounties offered civilians who recommended kith or kin for the National Guard during the heighth of the ur-RAHOWA Against International Terrorism. Said bounties running well into six figures, with some $360 million lost in the process in toto--and high-ranking military officers feigning knowledge of such perversion of the system.
  2. CVS Pharmacy, the nation's largest pharmacy chain (7,300 locations from Mt. Katahdin to Mauna Loa), made a shock announcement this morning that it will begin phasing out forthwith all tobacco sales at all locations--cigars, cigarillos, cigarettes, pipe mixtures, chewing tobacco, even snus--with such ending on October 1st. (In line with tobacco-industry settlements aimed at discouraging Impressionable Youth from smorking, tobacco is now sold behind the checkout counter.) And expect certain overzealous cultural conservatives to suggest such is "a slap in the face of REAL AmeriKKKan Cultural Heritage, Identity and Folkways," or somesuch. (Walgreen's, in its response to the news, acknowledged that it was "reviewing its options" with respect to continuing tobacco sales at their locations, which trade as Walgreen's and Duane Reade.)
  3. Freedom Industries (now in administration essentially) may be facing Serious Federal Charges relative to its accidental chemical dump as afflicted drinking-water supplies in and around Charleston, WV last month (and, in a small way, continues to afflict the water supply; however, the chemical levels are within EPA safe levels); a grand jury has been empaneled to study evidence and take testimony to see if charges of Environmental Pollution are warranted.
  4. The owner of a low-class pet shop at a Las Vegas strip mall faces Animal Abuse/Cruelty charges after several such were found amongst the smoke and ash of the same when said owner set same ablaze in the face of serious financial issues, hoping the ensuing insurance payout might help him along--at least until Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar comes along and smells Insurance Fraud. (Thankfully, the dogs were rescued and placed in the local Humane Society's shelter for possible adoption. On the other hand, though, how do we know the dogs in question weren't from the worst possible sort of puppy mills as are nothing but "jobs-creating" jokes placing Quantity above Quality?)
  5. With whispers in Certain Washington Circles leaking out that House Speaker Boehner suggested that it might be in the best interests of the AmeriKKKan People and Nation to take a "do-nothing" approach with the "chronically and habitually" unemployed (never mind that such circumstances were not of their own making, know), how much longer before "Tea Party" and affiliated circles start dusting off the Proceedings of the First People's Economic Congress, as held under auspices of the Afrikaner Broederbond and affiliated entities at Bloemfontein in October 1939, and its agenda for "saving the Afrikaner from himself" based on a three-legged stool (so to speak) encapsulated in the Afrikaans terms (and allied concepts) of Reddingsdaad ("rescue action"), itself founded on the concept of Volkseenheid ("natural unity of a people"), not State charity, being the best avenue towards Helpmekaar ("helping each other")? (Provided, of course, such involved as its foundation pathetically-emotional campaigns on the model of [pseudo]religious "ministries" seeking the leverage, through a Reddingsdaadfonds--a "Patriot Fund," as it were--of the "idle monies" held among the masses into "productive capital" as could eventually help stimulate employment and jobs creation according to the doctrines and disciplines of a new, "people-centred" ideal of Volksekonomesie Vryheid which, in Reality, may actually be closer to crony capitalism excusing kickbacks disguised as "consulting fees" vis-a-vis affiliated "Tea Party," "9/12," "Christian Patriot" and suchlike groups, expected in the process to launder same into "social welfare" schemes having no relation thereto.)
Meanwhile, the Girl Scouts could use all the more of your support during their annual cookie sales as are forthcoming in the wake of calls by Elmer Gantryite types who insist that the Girl Scouts of America, without credible evidence or substantiation, supports abortion, contraception and family planning, among other articles of faith "inconsistent with Traditional Gender-Role Identity and Values" as call for women to, in essence, "submit graciously" to the will and desires of the husband, no matter how coercive, how sadisto or even how perverto he may be to achieve that end.
