17h43 UTC; FRIDAY, 2 MARCH 2012: Pity poor Sandra Fluke, a Georgetown University law student managing to take on the (supposed) majesty of the "Tea Party"-influenced GOP element in Congress over their argument (howbeit unsuccessful) that the fight over whether health insurance cover should apply to contraception is one with Religious Liberty (as if wanting to claim for The AmeriKKKa We Love Deeply and Dearly the title-in-abeyance of "God's Own Country" that apartheid South Africa was forced to relenquish after it recognised the utter failure of apartheid in 1994): The Oxycontin Boar "himself" used his syndicated talkback radio programme to challenge Ms. Fluke's credibility and trust with tasteless remarks such as these:
What does it say about the college co-ed Susan Fluke [sic] who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex. What does that make her? It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex. She’s having so much sex she can’t afford the contraception. She wants you and me and the taxpayers to pay her to have sex.

So Miss Fluke, and the rest of you Feminazis, here’s the deal. If we are going to pay for your contraceptives, and thus pay for you to have sex. We want something for it. We want you post the videos online so we can all watch.
The which, in any case, has prompted a call for a boycott of Meneer Rush Limbaugh's radio advertisers (the which has already produced results; to the moment, Heart and Body Extract and Sleep Train have pulled their advertising, and is said to be "reevaluating" their ad buys), as well as some recommended alternatives to Limbaugh's advertisers being posted onto Teh Innerwebz here, for the socially-responsible and -conscious brand of consumer.

As if that weren't enough, the discussion thread on the original blog item/boycott call saw the following Open Letter to The Oxycontin Boar, posted by "Anonymous":
Mr. Limbaugh,

You have crossed the line with your recent comments about Sandra Fluke and your disgusting command that if a woman get birth control through her employer's health plan that she should post a video.

Really? What planet are you from? It is 2012. Women are not longer possessions or chattel. Women no longer need to be subjugated or relegated to the kitchen or bedroom. Women occupy many levels of management all the way up to CEO.

It is attitudes like yours that set back women's rights 100 years.

You, the man who needs Viagra to get it up - you get your prescription paid for; yet you don't believe that a woman should have that same benefit. You have the nerve to call women who stand up to P.OS. like you "feminazis?" You really are a sorry sack of excrement. I don't normally stoop to your level of hurling insults but there really is not other way to sugarcoat it. You are a disgusting human being.

I am boycotting all of your sponsors (listed in the cc field of this email and through their websites); I will tell my friends to boycott your sponsors and to send them emails why. I will be posting about this and signing every petition possible just to see you off the air. At this point and apology to Ms. Fluke and her fellow students would be moot. An apology to all women that you have insulted with your continued WAR on reproductive rights would be moot. You cannot be allowed to continue to pollute the airwaves with your negative, disingenuous, racist, misogynistic rants.

You saw what happened to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. That is what is going to happen to you. Women and the REAL men who stand with them will see that, at a minimum, you are censored but the ultimate goal will to see you taken of the air. It happened to Beck and it will happen to you.
(And it only gets more interesting: Bain Capital, as in GOP Presidential wannabe Mitt Romney and his known connexions thereto, turns out to be a major stakeholder in Clear Channel Communications, as distributes The Oxycontin Boar's show to radio stations nationwide ... and Clear Channel also owns the show's producers, Premiere Radio Networks. Methinks it was time to direct some umbarge against the Romney campaign for his associations with such purveyors of caveman-stylee misogynist prolefeed, even if it's on the investment end.)

Meanwhile, may I be the first to further enhance this call for boycott by suggesting that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) be brought into the issue, given Meneer Limbaugh's use of language in his remarks as would raise questions under the Obscenity and Indecency Rules which:
  • in the former instance, prohibits broadcast of the Seven Dirty Words or their variants at any time; and
  • in the latter, limits "indecent and profane" comments to the "safe harbour" of between 22h and 06h, local time.
The FCC, for its part, explains the difference between Obscenity, Indecency and Profanity thus on its website:
What makes material obscene? Obscene speech is not protected by the First Amendment and broadcasters are prohibited, by statute and regulation, from airing obscene programming at any time. According to the U.S. Supreme Court, to be obscene, material must meet a three-prong test: (1) an average person, applying contemporary community standards, must find that the material, as a whole, appeals to the prurient interest (i.e., material having a tendency to excite lustful thoughts); (2) the material must depict or describe, in a patently offensive way, sexual conduct specifically defined by applicable law; and (3) the material, taken as a whole, must lack serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value. The Supreme Court has indicated that this test is designed to cover hard-core pornography.

What makes material indecent? Indecent material contains sexual or excretory material that does not rise to the level of obscenity. For this reason, the courts have held that indecent material is protected by the First Amendment and cannot be banned entirely. It may, however, be restricted to avoid its broadcast during times of the day when there is a reasonable risk that children may be in the audience. The FCC has determined, with the approval of the courts, that there is a reasonable risk that children will be in the audience from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., local time. Therefore, the FCC prohibits station licensees from broadcasting indecent material during that period.

Material is indecent if, in context, it depicts or describes sexual or excretory organs or activities in terms patently offensive as measured by contemporary community standards for the broadcast medium. In each case, the FCC must determine whether the material describes or depicts sexual or excretory organs or activities and, if so, whether the material is patently offensive.

In our assessment of whether material is patently offensive, context is critical. The FCC looks at three primary factors when analyzing broadcast material: (1) whether the description or depiction is explicit or graphic; (2) whether the material dwells on or repeats at length descriptions or depictions of sexual or excretory organs; and (3) whether the material appears to pander or is used to titillate or shock. No single factor is determinative. The FCC weighs and balances these factors because each case presents its own mix of these, and possibly other, factors.

What makes material profane? Profane language includes those words that are so highly offensive that their mere utterance in the context presented may, in legal terms, amount to a nuisance. In its Golden Globe Awards Order the FCC warned broadcasters that, depending on the context, it would consider the F-Word and those words (or variants thereof) that are as highly offensive as the F-Word to be profane language that cannot be broadcast between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m.
Those wishing to file complaints in this respect should complete FCC Form 475B (Obscene, Profane and/or Indecent Broadcast Complaints) and make note of these particular transcripts via Media Matters for America in their complaint. As reinforcement, contact the Audience Services Director of such stations in your area as carry Limbaugh's show, again referring them to the specific transcripts as above and advising them that the matter is being referred to the FCC for approriate action.

(That last point may be especially important for those of you resident in Arkansas, Louisana and Mississippi, where radio station licences are currently up for renewal with petitions to request denial thereof due at the FCC on May 1st; those in Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee should know that applications for licence renewals in those states are due April 2nd, with petitions for denial thereof due July 2nd ... and in Michigan and Ohio, renewal of licence applications are due June 1st, with petitions for denial due by September 4th.)

And One Thing More: Meneer Limbaugh needs to realise that he could be held liable and culpable for driving Sandra Fluke, the target of such vile and low comments, into insanity, psychoemotional disorder or--worse yet--takes The Other Way Out by that spewing from his lips. He also needs to remember these very words that spelled doom for Sen. Joseph McCarthy and his farce of anti-Communist Zealotry and True Belief under (presumed) Congressional sanction, as presented live on national television June 9, 1954:

"Have you no sense of Decency, Sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of Decency?"

The which, in any case, was to be the beginning of the end of such misguided excesses of "anti-Communism" under McCarthy's direction and influence, culminating in his censure by the Senate that same November for "tending to bring the Senate into dishonour or disrepute" by his anti-Communist antics. In the end, Al Cohol would get the better of Sen. McCarthy, succumbing to liver disease aggravated by years of heavy drinking (gin in particular) on May 2, 1957.

The preceding I bring up to remind this self-appointed "Truth Detector" of George Santayana's observation that "those who do not recall the past are condemned to repeat it." Let it serve as a warning additionally.
